What is the best Italian city to stay in winter?

Going on a vacation is a magical time that most of us are looking forward to with more anticipation than our own birthday or Christmas. The good thing about the globalization of the modern world is that we are able to choose in which country and in which season we would like to spend the days of freedom. Whether we want to enjoy snow or lie in the sun on the sea-shore or experience a moderate climate with mild weather, there will always be some option for us.

If you decide to spend this winter vacation nowhere else but in the majestic Italy, you should plan the trip thoroughly. Though in summer the temperature differences you may encounter in Italy are insignificant (basically in the summertime it is simply quite hot all over the country), bear in mind that you get to choose from Mediterranean, Mediterranean mild, Humid subtropical, Humid continental, Oceanic and Cold continental climate zones.

It is a good idea to find out the cost of apartments to rent in the part of Italy you are going to pay a visit, too. The colder areas of the country are likely to cost you less because less tourist crowds attend those in winter, but at the same time there are less touristy attractions available for you there during this season. There is an exception in this rule – the winter skiing resorts in Italy are highly popular during the winter season, for obvious reasons. You should go to Piedmont or Cervinia if you are after that sort of winter recreation. (more...)
